Our History

flag of Plainview, Manesy (dev. 1968 by Sherwyn-Goss Plaine)

Ferwelt T. Anthony Plaine was born on June 1st, 1930 to parents Gergson Plaine and Shefferthy Plaine in the city of Other Detroit, Manesy. The Plaine family were always the odd ones out in Other Detroit, having long come from a line of entertainers, inventors and artisans. Before it’s fall and subsequent replacement/relocation with Other Detroit 2, Other Detroit 1 was already deep into the stages of terminal hyperwork, forcing almost every citizen eligible for work to enter a 24/7 office work life. For various reasons, the Plaines were among the only families in Other Detroit to be granted hyperwork immunity by the Manesy Board of Employment. At a young age, Ferwelt Plaine believed there was more to life than work. Ferwelt believed that every person should be allowed to follow the path that they wanted, free of the office work that had been forced upon his peers. Over the years, Ferwelt’s passion to foster a community of free-thinkers would bloom into the initial ideas to create Plainview - a city that would serve as the state of Manesy’s so-called “capital of inspiration”. Even as Other Detroit fell and was abandoned - abandoning hyperwork with it - Ferwelt still felt passionate about realizing his dream city. Ferwelt became a successful inventor, and met a woman talented in the arts named Sherwyn-Goss Abbey, who he would later wed and found Plainview alongside.Creating Plainview was no easy task, as it came with years of rejection and revamping, with boards insisting that a city made exclusively for Mansey’s brightest minds would only lead to infighting and chaos among its hypothetical citizens. Eventually though, after downsizing the Plainview concept from a city to a town with a limited amount of residents and an elected mayor, the boards approved the creation of the town, and the town of Plainview, Manesy was born on June 31st, 1968.After a rocky initial beginning, it was decided that Plainview would operate on an invite-only system, meaning residence would only be obtained through a letter of recognition for a person’s show of notable talent in a particular niche. Ever since the introduction of this method of citizenship, Plainview has, and has continued to be, a shining civilization of talent, collaboration, and creativity - not just to Manesy, but to all great minds alike.Today, due to its invite-only basis, Plainview has a population of around 500~, with each citizen having a particular talent or skillset they excel at. Though not open for housing bar the aforementioned invite system, Plainview is open to tours, vacations, and temporary stays, and is frequented and adored by thousands of tourists each year.

Our Residents

In the years since it’s establishment, Plainview has been honored to house many accomplished and well-recognized people throughout various fields of research, academia, talent and excellence, many of whom need no introduction. Such has not changed over time, and today, Plainview houses more outstanding persons than ever.Listed below are just a handful of the star residents that call Plainview home.

Shelby Rose Presipence

Area/s of Expertise: Acting, Public SpeakingAs of writing, Mayor Shelby Rose Presipence has been in office as Plainview's 13th elected mayor for two years of her four-year term. Though her time as mayor has been met with positive buzz and high expectations from many in town, her achievements in acting are what the general public knows her best for.Belonging to the Presipence family, a family that is no stranger to spending time in the spotlight, Shelby chose to go into acting as her personal claim to fame among the family's many accolades. Her ability to capture an "otherworldly charm" as some on set described it combined with her somewhat snarky and down-to-earth attitude led her to skyrocket to the top of her field, starring in such movies as "Oyster Phantom", "The Life and Times of the Weirdos", “The Sweeties” and "Drip The Freaks on Mars", and by the time she was in her early to late 20's, she had already earned 23 Oscars - with each stemming from a different performance. While it isn't unusual to see young actresses taking part in award show events, the number of successful performances that have been made since Shelby joined the stage seemed to defy reason, and yet as the years flew by she only got more successful. She, alongside her brother, Spingcar driver Larry Presipence, were only invited to join the Plainview community relatively recently -- and upon learning of the mayoral election, Shelby Presipence decided to run against Trudy Tulse, former mayor of Plainview for two terms. Ultimately she won in a landslide vote, promising new opportunities and bigger ventures for the people of Plainview. Since then, she's worked hard to bring the community together as a whole and ensure that she continues to make her mark on the town - which she does effortlessly, having already won everyone's hearts on the big screen.

Max Maxine Maxwell Maximillian Maxilla (aka ‘Mr. Maxilla’)

Area/s of Expertise: Children’s Entertainment, Comedy, CartoonistryMax Maxine Maxwell Maximillian Maxilla - often shortened to Mr. Maxilla - is a beloved staple in children’s entertainment. He was born into a family of circus acrobats from the Midwest who trained him to become a master contortionist. It was at that circus that he developed a unique sense of whimsy and appreciation for the absurd. He fled the circus his family had been stationed at age 11 after a giant mutant hamster escaped a nearby chemical plant, tragically trampling everyone inside. This event is what convinced him to seriously pursue entertainment for children as a career - having witnessed such a horrifying event so early in life, he realized firsthand the importance of media meant to make children happy, and dedicated his life to cheering up younger audiences, specifically those who felt alienated, troubled, or ignored by everyone else. His first major success came with the publication of his now-hit comic strip “Shlubby and Feldy” about an Alfredo-loving pink striped cat and a Dalmatian with red spots and a crass attitude, which went on to become the highest-grossing newspaper strip in recorded history. Later successes of his include “The Maxilla Variety Hour”, an educational variety show with him as the host and a pair of Shlubby and Feldy puppets as co-stars, the organization “Maxfun”, founded to encompass all Shlubby and Feldy properties as well as give vital resources, education, and funds to less fortunate children and their families, several children’s touring comedy shows with him as a key headliner, and the highly anticipated “Maxfunland”, an in the works themepark centered around his creations and likeness. He has also released several albums and is exceedingly skilled at playing the ukulele and the accordion. In a recent survey, Mr. Maxilla was voted as the most recognizable figurehead working in children’s entertainment today, with one voter stating, “He’s like a mouse - A comforting mouse. One that never stops skittering in your walls, but you don’t really want him to, because his squeaks sound like the voice of a nice older brother you never had, telling you that if you fall on your bike, it’s okay - just try again tomorrow, you’ll get there one day, we have plenty of bandages and you’ll be fine. I think I need to go to bed now.”

Lawrence “Larry” Presipence

Area/s of Expertise: Spingcar RacingWorld-renowned as one of the globe’s top competing Spingcar drivers, Larry Presipence has always been famous for his ability to maintain a steady, chummy spirit even under the tensest of competitive settings, which is no easy task in any field of athleticism. Even still, Larry treats each race like just any other friendly completion, and it's his fair-and-square attitude which earns him his popularity.Growing up in the Presipence family, Larry was urged by his father to join a sport when he was still relatively young. He had no real interest in Tossball, and Jockball didn't peak his interest either - no, what always captivated him was speed. And he found his calling in the high-paced art of Spingcar driving, where he'd find himself in competition with several different people from all around the world. It didn't take him long to realize that the most exhilarating moments of the day were those when he could simply drive. No rules, no barriers. There were no expectations or restrictions on his performance, not that he needed them. After graduation, he continued to race, becoming the first human being to drive a full 50 laps without a roof underwater in a race with his almost-life-apponent, Dylan Sticks. From there he grew fascinated with driving in unusual spaces, such as subzero temperatures and extreme humidity. He took to these pursuits like a duck to water, learning to navigate through the worst conditions imaginable, but always returning home feeling refreshed and renewed. "Not that bad at all", he described it as. Eventually he landed an internship at NASA's main testing facility, where he was given his very own space vehicle, one capable of crossing the Earth's surface, and became the first Spingcar racer to drive across the entire face of the moon and return back to Earth all just under 30 seconds.Larry still maintains his friendly attitude and passion for daredevil racing even into his days living in Plainview. Six years prior to moving to Plainview, Larry married Yvonne Vonsten, the famous cowgirl, rancher, and rodeo enthusiast, and had a child with her, naming her Dahlia. He just hopes that one day, Dahlia will grow to appreciate the art of Spingcar driving like he does.

Claudette Cosmogony

Area/s of Expertise: Modeling, Songwriting, Fashion DesignClaudette Cosmogony is an icon of modern pop culture, with their uniquely ‘cosmic’ approach to the rockstar lifestyle turning billions of heads each year. Their music has a haunting, hypnotizing, experimental appeal and each one of her vibrant fashion pieces are enough to get the public talking about her for months on end.Claudette was born in Dracula, Transylvania, to two vampires both going by the name 'The Chills'. The Chills both raised Claudette with an affinity for the dark and bizarre in mind, much to her interest. Claudette was also invested in the world of glam and punk, and would later heavily draw from the two to create hee own distinct visual style. She knew without a doubt what she had to be, even at the age of twelve. And so, she became the 'Cockatiel' of the Goth community, creating the musical band "The Screeching Leeches of Hollywood Hells" to front alongside her. Their first single, “Free as a Boil", peaked at number one in Transylvania Top Ten, and they continued to release music throughout the years, with their other notable songs being "Born and Died A Fly", "Creepy Wednesday", "Death's Heartless Husband" and "Helling It Up".After the band dissolved, Claudette entered her solo career swinging with several more hit singles - this time, more artsy then the last. Among these releases were "Thing Beneath Christmas", an album that sold over 500 million copies worldwide and "Mary's Not Here", which sold nearly 2 billion copies worldwide. These albums had an uncanny resemblance to the songs on "Screeching Leeches", but had a much more elevated, refined, and elegant feel - this elegant gothic glam would come to be a staple of Claudette's brand. Along with this, she launched Malscare Clothing, a highly sought after designer brand in the eyes of goths everywhere.Later Claudette would meet and fall in love with Rory Lanza, another big name in the morbid community for his contributions to offputting and disorientating filmmaking. Their commited relationship would result in dozens of collaborations, and the two inspired each other in every which way, with them both mutally lending one another their talents. Claudette Cosmogony's and Rory Lanza's biggest success would come in the form of their "The Nightingale House" era, which followed the release of the album of the same name and a rollout of live shows, which utilized state of the art technology to cast a ghost of varying morality onto each audience member, much to their delight. This was their biggest accomplishment by far, selling 40 billion album copies and becoming a huge hit with millions of fans. They have remained the reigning superstars ever since.Claudette and Rory continue to produce music and designs in their Plainview estates, and Claudette shows no sign of slowing down her dark, showy momentum anytime soon.

Rory Lanza

Area/s of Expertise: Filmmaking, Art, DesignRory Lanza is a surrealistic, abstract filmmaker and director with an eye for expressionism horror, and camp. Prior to his relationship with Claudette Cosmogony, he was fairly unknown to the greater world, but her love for him has elevated him to a cult classic producer. Each project of his has their own devoted fanbases who revel in the intricate details and deeper meaning behind his works, and they eagerly await his next releases with open arms. Not much is known on Rory’s early life other than he always loved storytelling, but could never find the proper way to convey his messages. So, whenever he would make movies, he would, in his words, “twist” them, completely turning cinema on its head with his utterly novel and at times incomprehensible approach to directing. His films often had the uncanny ability to capture the heart and mind of those watching them, so that it became harder and harder for the audience to watch anything else but the film in front of them. This was a skill that most critics and audiences appreciated when watching his movies, but as time passed they grew afraid. "Oh god, has it really been 3 days? 3 days since I've first seen Glorious Shame, and in that time I've just watched it for 24 hours straight?" A reporter said, after it had been found that the reporter in question been hiding away in an underground bunker watching nothing but Lanza's hit film, Glorious Shame. He was, in fact, watching it for a month straight. Though this is the extent of the compulsive obesssion people have with Rory's filmography, almost every day people pick apart his works for whatever details they can find.Rory himself is known to be rather soft-spoken and polite, but has a sense of humor than only be described as "funny in a desensitized way"- having openly joked to reporters about how his biggest regret in life is that he wasn't the one to direct the at the time recent film release "2000 Hours of A Frog On A Lilypad", saying "I've watched it all and never been more captivated by anything else in my life. If I died tomorrow, it's because whoever's up there's probably going, 'Yeah, we've done it. We've hit the peak of cinema'...so, why even bother? There's nothing more we can do now."Despite being a bit of a self-described "oddball eccentric", Rory ultimately means no harm, even if his works have a bizarre, bewitching effect on the people who see them. As for his relationship with the town of Plainview, in interviews he's expressed how much he's loved calling it home. He elaborated to interviewers, "What, you seriously don't believe I'd summon an angel to vote for Presipence if I could?"

Trudy Tulse

Area/s of Expertise: Technology, ProgrammingTrudy Tulse is the head of TulseTech Enterprises, as well as the former mayor of Plainview prior to Shelby Presipence’s election into the office. She is regarded as one of the most intelligent people in the country, spearheading a majority of the nation’s technological advancements for the past 25 years. Most of Trudy’s inventions are made to help the average consumer improve basic everyday tasks, consisting of fridge-coffee pot combos, an egg that cooks itself, and various household gadgets that help with household management. However, she has also worked on the more complicated ones. Some of the most advanced parts of her technology have been made at TulseTech, such as various rayguns in her personal collection, and her personal AI assistant/daughter, Gigi Tulse.Despite her genius, Trudy rarely makes public appearances, especially since Shelby's election, or shows off her technology, which has caused some questions from certain quarters regarding her true nature.Trudy has never responded publicly to these comments, preferring to let others come up to her instead, even if they can be intimidating or insulting. It doesn't matter how smart you are; it still takes one to know one, especially when it comes to science and engineering. As is such, not much is known publicly about Trudy's exact projects nowadays, and many don't believe that she works alone. She often keeps to herself, though. If she wants to be left alone, then she'll stay that way.
